Text Description of School
The mission of Kigezi International School of Medicine is to promote health care world-wide by aiding the training of primary care physicians from all nations. The programme also seeks to promote exchange between academic communities in Cambridge and medical students from all nations who seek training in the medical sciences.
Kigezi International School of Medicine aims to train physicians with strong backgrounds in the basic medical sciences and a commitment to primary health care. This should enable our graduates to assume leadership positions in health care and government. Their international contacts in Cambridge, England, Uganda and the USA will give them experience and a competitive advantage in the international medical community.
A prime objective of Kigezi International School of Medicine is to provide invaluable training for international students in tropical medicine. In so doing, the programme augments the medical resources of Uganda, particularly the region of Kigezi. We are taking significant steps to further the development of Kabale Hospital in order to have it accommodate teaching facilities, and a considerable budget is allocated annually towards the maintenance of a high level of medical care at Kabale Hospital.
